Dr Heckroodt Laubscher

Specialist Orthopaedic Shoulder Surgeon


Dr Heckroodt Laubscher qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in 2007 after obtaining an M.MED degree from the University of Pretoria, and successfully completed his examinations for the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in Orthopaedic Surgery in May 2007.
Subsequently, he travelled to Rennes, France to complete a 4 month shoulder fellowship under Dr P Collins.

During this time he had the opportunity to visit numerous well respected shoulder surgeons in France, such as Dr Lafosse and Dr Walch. Dr Laubscher undertook a shoulder fellowship within a shoulder orientated community in France, which is in the forefront of research, advancement of surgical techniques and product development in the field of shoulder surgery.

Since his return from France in early 2008, Dr Laubscher has worked exclusively in the field of shoulder surgery. He has also had the opportunity to work with and learn from various well respected shoulder surgeons in South Africa.

Dr Laubscher regularly publishes articles in the SA Orthopaedic Journal and has already on two occasions provided an “Expert Opinion”. He has furthermore presented papers related to shoulder surgery at the South African Orthopaedic Association conferences. He regularly gives CPD talks to General Practitioners on topics related to shoulder conditions and surgery and regularly conducts workshops for physiotherapists and other professionals. Dr Laubscher is a member of the South African Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons' Society and actively partakes in meetings of the Gauteng Shoulder Surgeons interest group.
